AskWellWithU: Fasting on Meds

Published Date Author: , March 1st, 2010

Dr. Jeff,

I just finished watching the “Detox or Die” webinar.  I have a couple of questions, after giving you a little history.  I am overweight by 100 lbs.  I have been being treated for asthma, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diverticulitis, and I am on medications for all of them.

1.  Can I safely fast without taking medications?

2.  How long of a fast would you suggest?

Also, I was diagnosed with MS in 1987, but have been in remission since 1994, which was done by GOD, not by medical doctors.

Thanks for any information you can provide.  I am really looking to a way to get healthy and get the weight off of this body.

Dear N,

Fast without taking medications?  Generally, Yes, but some meds are not easy to take on an empty stomach.  And as a Chiropractic Physician, medications are not my specialty.  You need to ask the MD who prescribed them what a safe way there is to come off of them.  As far as your weight, there are no contraindications to fasting.

The length of the fast is highly variable, but a few days as a tester is a good start to see how you do.

As far as weight loss, I suggest you visit our WellWithU.com site for our 5-part detox series.  Watch them all!  Any of your current health complaints can definitely be caused entirely by things we discuss in those classes.

Be blessed!

That it may go well with you,

Dr. Jeff
