AskWellWithU: Heavy Metal Poisoning
Dr. Jeff, March 7th, 2010 Dear Dr. Jeff,
I am writing to see if there is hope….
I am 67 years old and I live in the Western US.
I worked for more than 25 years in a lab for a platinum and paladium mine. We worked 12-hour shifts, day and graveyard alternately. I wore steel-toed shoes and was on my feet on concrete floors for most of my shifts. We worked extensively with concentrated metals and very strong chemicals.
I say all that to ask you….is there any hope for neuropathy [disease or disfunction of one or more peripheral nerves] of the feet? I have been in severe pain for more than a decade. In the year 2000, I had surgery on both feet where, supposedly by removing nerves between my toes, it would solve my problem. This was the most painful surgery I have ever experienced. The doctor told me I would be back to work in a month – it was four months before I could get my shoes back on my swollen feet. After all of that, the pain is still there and now I experience a combination of numbness and stinging pain. That is hard to explain.
Every doctor I have talked to about this has told me that they don’t know why this happens and they have no ideas how to help, other than giving me the same medication that epileptics take and pain pills.
I am looking at knee replacement surgery in the next month. I am sure I have worn my knees out by the hobbling of way I walk.
Are there poisons in my system? Is there help?
Thank you for your time, S

S,
I am so sorry to hear about your troubles. It truly pains my heart to imagine your suffering. May the Almighty strengthen you to endure and comfort you in all your needs.
I strongly encourage you to log onto our WellWithU.com website and watch the 5-part series we did on Environmenal Detox. It sounds like you have significant environmental poisoning, and likely a heavy metal component. You need to watch those classes, and start to research doctors in your area who specialize in environmental and heavy metal detox while also using Far Infrared Sauna. Again, watch the classes and contact me as you research and let me know if you need additional assistance.
That it may go well with you,
Dr. Jeff

I have been looking into edible clay as a means of detoxification. A friend has found a local source (in Canada) and I don’t recall exactly what kind it is or know whether to purchase it, but in the meantime I have been reading about calcium bentonite clay on the internet. (Several companies market it under the name of “Living Clay.”) What are your thoughts on ingesting clay in order to cleanse our bodies of impurities, including heavy metals?
Thanks, Connie
Connie,
I do not see the use of “edible clay” as long term solution to detoxification. It may certainly be used in emergencies where there is acute ingesting of poisons, a situation which would benefit from recently encountered lethal toxins being blocked from being absorbed into the body. However, without nutritional value, it has no power to draw anything out from “inside” your body, only that which remains within the gut lumen (other than water and that is not good).
That it may go well with you, Dr. Jeff
